Fact-Checking Policy

Last updated: June 1, 2026

Smartphone software changes constantly. A guide that was correct in March can be wrong by August. Our fact-checking process is designed to catch those changes early.

Before publication

  • Every settings menu path is opened and verified by our editor on the current shipping version of iOS or Android.
  • Every product price and availability claim is checked against the manufacturer's website on the day of publication.
  • Every statistic is traced to its primary source. We link the primary source, not a secondary summary.
  • Health- and accessibility-related claims are reviewed by a relevant credentialed professional when applicable.

After publication

  • Pillar articles are reviewed at least every six months.
  • All articles are reviewed after any major iOS or Android version release.
  • Scam-prevention articles are reviewed monthly against the FBI IC3 and FTC alert feeds.
  • We track reader-reported issues and respond within two business days.

Corrections

When we discover a factual error — including stale settings paths or outdated screenshots — we:

  1. Fix the article immediately.
  2. Update the "Last reviewed" date at the top.
  3. Add a dated correction notice at the bottom describing what changed and why.

For significant corrections (any claim that could affect a reader's purchase decision, security, or accessibility setup), we also note the change in the article's social-share post.
